I have over 100 kiosks

I have over 100 kiosks including some that use VLC. I don't have trouble with the video. I would check your local hardware or media.

how do you have it set up?

how do you have it set up?

sorry

I misread your comment. You want to edit /home/kiosk/.xsession and change the line that starts firefox to vlc. There are some switches you can pass on the command line to start it full screen and disable or hide the controls. Using vlc --help on the command line introduces you to the plethora of options. Prior to calling vlc in .xsession, you'll want to disable at least the control key. Off the top of my head, you could use xmodmap. I don't have access to the kiosk I setup at the moment but I can tell you there's a better, more generic way to disable keys.

Well starting up vlc works, but no audio again. Not sure how to tell VLC to use the HDMI port, even though i set it in the VLC settings before I locked it
